Programmable Terminal Topic: Detect PT Error from PLC during 1:N NT Link Communications

FAQ No. FAQ00168

Question

When multiple Programmable Terminals are connected to a PLC with 1:N NT Link communications and an error occurred in one of the Programmable Terminal, is it possible to detect that error from the PLC?

Answer

A Programmable Terminal's operating status is given in bit 15 of the Programmable Terminal Status Notify Bits. That flag can be monitored in the Programmable Controller in order to recognize when a Programmable Terminal error occurred, i.e., when the Programmable Terminal is not operating.
