Safety Network Controller with Great Flexibility

DeviceNet Safety System

SEPTEMBER 17, 2009 (ASIA PACIFIC) - Omron Corporation has introduced a Safety Network System that enables a wide range of devices to be easily networked and managed remotely. The Safety Network Controller is the world's first safety controller with a built-in DeviceNet Safety interface.

With seamless integration into DeviceNet Safety interface, Omron has produced one of the best industrial field buses around. It is compliant with the highest safety standards in industry and meets the guidelines of IEC 61508 SIL3 for functional safety and Category 4 of EN954-1 for machine safety.

The NE0A Safety Network Controller provides up to 12 built-in safety inputs and 8 built-in safety outputs suitable for small-scale safety applications.

Safety-certified circuits for the required safety category are easy to configure by simply selecting and combining items, such as reset conditions and AND operations. Safety circuits created can be saved as templates and reused for easy standardization. Templates can be made of modules that partially stop applications, while maintaining a fixed 20-ms response, which is among the fastest in the industry. A wide range of TUV-certified templates is also available for customization. Operating status of the safety systems can be monitored from a standard DeviceNet Master.

It is also possible to combine logic with safety signals from the other safety controllers over a safety network distribution system. The Controller meets guidelines of SIL3 of IEC61508 for functional safety and category 4 of ISO 13849-1 for machine safety.

Omron’s DeviceNet safety is designed with the flexibility for system expansion via networking for further cost-savings. It conforms to Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) safety specification standard set by ODVA. By using one single DeviceNet Network, it can effectively monitor safety systems within a large area. Omron’s Safety Network Controller significantly reduces wiring and testing costs. It can also be easily changed or upgraded to suit your machine safety requirements.

Now with EtherNet/IP for Visualizing Safety Control and Performing Reliable Maintenance!

The new NE1A-SCPU0[]-EIP Safety DeviceNet Controllers incorporate the established global-standard EtherNet/IP Communication protocol for multi-vendor interoperability. Said to be the world's first programmable safety controller with a built-in DeviceNet Safety interface, this controller is designed with the flexibility for system expansion via networking. NE1A can manage up to 16 DeviceNet Safety slaves in one network thus significantly reduces wiring cost.

What's more, it is certified for compliance to IEC6150 SIL3 for functional safety as well as to EN954-1 category 4 for machine safety.

With Omron’s DeviceNet Safety solution, safety is no longer a complex system but is effective in reducing downtime and maximizing productivity.
