Greater connectivity between OMRON components and PLCs or HMIs that does not require additional programming or the creation of screen data.

Omron Function Block and Active Screen

The OMRON Standard Libraries are sets of functional software objects that can be incorporated as-is into your system. The OMRON Function Block (FB) Library and Smart Active Parts (SAPs) Library enable improved software quality through standardization without the need for developing software to connect PLCs or Programmable Terminal (PTs) to control system devices.

OMRON FB Library

Temperature Controller Example. Before: Ladder programs had to be written while keeping the allocated addresses in the CPU Unit in mind when setting SPs, reading PVs and reading/writing RUN/STOP status and other parameters for Temperature Controllers.

Now: The Omron FB library provides function blocks for setting SPs, reading PVs and reading/writing RUN/STOP status and other Temperature Controller parameters. The programmer simply pastes function blocks from the Omron FB library into the program. The desired functions can be utilized simply by inputting the Temperature Controller unit number and address.

Omron components can be controlled easily from PLC ladder program using DeviceNet.

DeviceNet Field Network. Example: Data Exchange between DeviceNet Slaves and PLC Made Easy.

Smart Active Parts (SAPs) Library

Inverter Example. Before: To monitor the Inverter speed, output frequency or output current, or to set multiple parameters, an explicit message had to be sent from the PLC to read and write the parameters. To make settings or to monitor from a PT, screens had to be developed and Inverter data had to be allocated to the I/O memory in the PLC.

Now: Inverter speed, output frequency, and output current monitoring and multiple parameter settings provided as Smart Active Parts. The desired screens (HMI) and functions can be created simply by pasting these Smart Active Parts into the NS-series PT and making the communications settings.

Omron components easily viewed from PTs using DeviceNet.

Using the DeviceNet Field Network. Example: Using DeviceNet to Monitor and Set from a PT via the PLC during Data Exchange between PLC and Components.
